Twisted Metal Reboot Delayed
Eat Sleep Play, the developers behind the upcoming Twisted Metal reboot, has announced that the vehicular warfare title has been pushed from its original due date in October to early 2012. The news, which came courtesy of ESP co-founder David Jaffe on the PlayStation Blog, further explained that “the truth is: we’re just not ready yet,” and that the company needs more time to “Polish our demented baby until it shines.” Twisted Metal will have not only a campaign mode but two-player split-screen and an extensive online component.
Modern Warfare 3 to the Wii
A Wii version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is finally being prepped for the Wii (developed by Treyarch) and the DS (developed by n-Space). The hiring of n-Space indicates that the porting of the classic game will be in good hands, since the company previously adapted Call of Duty: Black Ops and DS editions of Modern Warfare and World at War.

New Bungie Project Details
Bungie, the world-famous developers of the Halo franchise, has so far been loath to divulge details about its upcoming project, which has been rumored to be a first-person MMO set in outer space. The codename for the new game, which was revealed in a recently-released Bungie video titled “O Brave New World,” is “Tiger,” and sparse concept art for the title suggests a vast desert (with snow-capped mountains in the distance) might be one of the game’s locales. According to Bungie writer Joseph Staten, “We feel responsible for not just telling an isolated story but for building a universe that at some point is going to become more “the fans” than ours.”
Only 3D on the Nintendo 3DS?
Though it’s natural to expect that Nintendo’s 3DS console would only offer programming in their much-touted 3D format, global Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says differently. “I think there could be a Nintendo 3DS software title which does not use the 3D feature at all, and I believe Nintendo will develop such software,” Iwata said, continuing to say that “Instead, other features of the Nintendo 3DS should be focused on.” He was likely referring to communication, the gyro sensor and motion sensor on the console, which are on their way towards being improved.
Rambo Announced
Reef Entertainment has signed a deal with StudioCanal, the producer of the Rambo films, to create a new game incarnation of the adventures of America’s favorite post-traumatic stress-suffering murdering machine. The Rambo game is expected to see release on all major consoles, including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, and will “capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful,” according to Reef creative director Craig Lewis.

Take $80 off of the 3DS
The disappointing sales of the Nintendo 3DS (which came in part because of a limited software lineup), forced the company to slash the console’s price by $80, a commercial move that was unprecedented at the time. Though the original DS saw many updated new versions hit the marketplace (the DS Lite, DSi, and DS XL), it’s unlikely that we’ll see such updates to Nintendo’s new handheld device. Frankly, Nintendo has too many 3DS units to unload, the Research and Development required to build new tech too costly, and the number of games available needs to grow in order to bolster further development.
NBA’s Greatest Mode for NBA 2K12
2K Games has announced a new game mode for their upcoming NBA 2K12, called “NBA’s Greatest.” The game mode allows players to control the sport’s greatest professionals, announcing Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Julius Erving. 10 additional classic players are expected to be revealed in the next few weeks. The “Greatest” mode will sport historically-accurate stadiums, and are even framed in the style of the classic TV broadcasts in which these titans once went toe-to-toe with each other on the court.
