The UFC Hammer Comes Down On Fedor & Golden Glory

“Business as usual” is one of UFC President Dana White’s favorite answers when it comes to questions about UFC business plans, fighter signings, organizational takeovers and cutting fighters. Well earlier this summer Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the UFC bought Strikeforce and White stated once again it will be business as usual.

I guess that holds true for the lose three fights in a row and your fired that has been a constant for any fighter not named Tito Ortiz because Dana White announced this week that Fedor Emelianenko had been cut from his Strikeforce contract after losing to Dan Henderson last weekend.

Here is what White told MMAWeekly.com:

“Yeah, he’s being cut, you guys thought he was the pound-for-pound best in the world, I said he was overrated for years.”

Now if that wasn’t shocking enough, everyone associated with Team Golden Glory except for Sergei Kharitonov (just because he is still in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix) were released from their respective contracts with Strikeforce and the UFC. Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem, former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Marloes Coenen, Valentijn Overeem and John Oliv-Einemo were all released in what Dana is calling a lack of business sense with Team Golden Glory and how they pay their fighters.

Here is what White had to say regarding the matter:

“It’s simple. If you look back throughout history, we haven’t had any Golden Glory guys fight for Zuffa since Semmy Schilt. The reason is we have very different business practices, the bottom line is, and the way that (Golden Glory) does business is you have to pay them, not the fighters. We don’t work that way. It’s not the way we do business. It’s not how it works in the United States. You don’t pay the manager and the manager pays the fighter. You pay the fighter and the fighter pays the manager.”

Sounds to me like bush-league/monopoly excuses from the UFC President as to why Zuffa would release the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion.

Kharitonov: “Prison Is The Best Place For Aleks Emelianenko”

In a recent interview with ValeTudo.ru, the only remaining Golden Glory fighter under the Zuffa banner had some choice words regarding the brother of Fedor Emelianenko.

“All organizations in the world know about his hepatitis C and nobody wants to have business with him. He has drunk himself into this disease. He is drug addicted alcoholic and criminal. All his disrespectful remarks to the athletes are just a bullshit. How can he fight with hepatitis? Nobody gonna take him to any tournament. He lies that he hasn’t been to prison but it’s not true, he has.” – Sergei Kharitonov

Ghostrade Partners with MMA Legend Frank Shamrock to Launch New Social Commerce Network

Ghostrade Corporation, a recently-formed social “eCommerce technology” network company, announced today that mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Frank Shamrock has joined the Ghostrade team. Through this partnership, Shamrock will hold the titles of Global Brand Spokesman and VP of Marketing at Ghostrade. Shamrock will help launch the organization’s new social commerce network portal, Ghostrade.com, into critical markets. The revolutionary technology-based portal enables consumers and companies all over the world to donate and recycle technology items such as unused cell phones, gaming units and computers.

“The Ghostrade team is honored to have MMA legend, sports commentator, and entrepreneur Frank Shamrock on board as a key member of the team,” stated Ghostrade President Ty Howard. “Shamrock is a spirited individual that successfully overcame many obstacles to experience successes in life, and we are thrilled that he will be endorsing Ghostrade. The new portal connects consumers with Ghostrade users based on their technology needs and then allows them to purchase their desired tech products at deep discounts via a “pre-owned” tech market.

According to MMA Legend Frank Shamrock, “I am extremely excited to be a part of the Ghostrade team. Their business model immediately resonated with me. It will not only positively impact everyone involved on a financial level, it will also eliminate a great deal of “technology” waste. Functioning technology that would otherwise be stuffed in a drawer or gathering dust in a closet will instead be put to good use. The company’s roadmap to success is very promising. I can’t wait to see Ghostrade come to life!”

Robin van Roosmalen replaces Giorgio Petrosyan in ‘Fast & Furious 70 max’

Robin van Roosmalen will take over the empty spot which was left by the injured Giorgio Petrosyan in the IT’S SHOWTIME ‘Fast & Furious 70 max’ 8 man tournament on September 24 in Brussels, Belgium.

Just like the original scheduled quarter final between Petrosyan and Chahid Oulad El Hadj, also this fight will be a rematch. Van Roosmalen and Oulad El Hadj faced each other in Amsterdam at ‘Fighting Stars presents IT’S SHOWTIME’, March 6 of this year. It was Van Roosmalen who got the better of the fight, scoring a 4-1 judges’ decision. The young talent is now 2-1 in his last 3 IT’S SHOWTIME battles, also scoring a KO victory over William Diender. On May 21, Robin van Roosmalen put on a very spectacular fight against Mohamed Khamal at ‘Fightclub presents IT’S SHOWTIME’, where Khamal took the decision win after an extra round.

For Chahid, this fight will be chance to take his revenge. However, this time Van Roosmalen won’t ‘just’ be in Chahid’s way to a victory, but also in his way to a chance to win the € 50.000 tournament jackpot. Two heavy sluggers with a good chin, great speed and stamina will make up for a beautiful rematch.
