Grand Theft Auto V New Details
The piecemeal advance image of the greatly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V has just become a little clearer, following the announcement that three protagonists will be driving the sandbox crime-sim’s narrative. In December’s 18-page Game Informer spread covering GTAV, the game’s multiple-hero premise, as well as its confirmed LA-surrogate setting of Los Santos have been detailed for the first time. The game, which has a second trailer due for release November 14th, is expected to arrive in stores for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 during Spring 2013.
Assassin’s Creed Anthology Stiffs the US
In a surprising bit of news considering the franchise’s popularity, the rumored Assassin’s Creed Anthology will not be coming to American consoles. Ubisoft confirmed that the bundling of all five Assassin’s Creed console titles (Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and Assassin’s Creed III) will be a collection released exclusively in the UK on November 30th through Amazon.com, priced at £120. The anthology not only includes all of the expansion packs and DLC released over the years for the titles, but collector’s packaging, a steelbook case, and five lithographs with artwork from the series.

Black Ops II and Youtube Partnership
Adding yet another fold to the ever-expanding military combat world of the Call of Duty franchise, Activision has just announced a partnership with YouTube. The deal between the two media giants involves a streaming option for Black Ops II players, who will now be able to live stream League Play games, as well as live audio/video commentary. Call of Duty: Black Ops II hits the market next Tuesday, on November 13th.
No PC for Halo 4?
The just-released Halo 4 isn’t currently on any track for release on the PC, according to a new statement from Microsoft representative posted in The Penny Arcade Report. “Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360, and while we’re always exploring new ways to expand the franchise and share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible, we do not currently have any plans to port Halo 4 to PC.” Though the first two Halo titles were ported to the PC, subsequent releases have remained firmly on console grounds.

PlayStation: The Official Magazine Killed Off
Following Nintendo Power’s recent cancellation, the changing of the guard from print to internet publications continues with the shut-down of PlayStation: The Official Magazine. Roger Burchill, the long-standing magazine’s editor-in-chief, tweeted recently:
“And…I think it’s time I say ‘So long and thanks for all the fish,’ and take a little break from Twitter. Check you on the flip side.”
No further reasons for the magazine’s belly-up status have been divulged.
Bungie’s Destiny Update
Destiny, the project Bungie has adopted as its central pursuit since letting loose the reins of the Halo franchise, was recently detailed by a Demonware employee via Kotaku. According to the source, Destiny (a title that could very well be code at this point for something else) is remarkably Halo-like in its essential design, with alien weapons combat played out over a lush landscape full of trees and foliage. Cooperative gameplay is central to the new shooter, which will feature music courtesy of ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. Though the game is reportedly due for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Xbox version will drop first in 2013, with the PS3 version set for release sometime in 2014.

Xbox Surface Announced
The market for tablets continues to grow with Microsoft’s recent announcement that they are designing a tablet of their own, currently titled the “Xbox Surface.” Focused more on gaming than other applications, the Surface boasts a 7-inch screen, high-bandwidth RAM, and a custom ARM processor. Microsoft is currently tight-lipped on all other details, but the tablet will likely arrive in advance of the Xbox 720 next year, and feature a scaled-down, custom version of the Windows operating system.
Uncharted: Fight for Fortune in the Works!
The adventures of Nathan Drake will continue with Uncharted: Fight for Fortune, a development uncovered through a recent listing on the Australian Classification Board’s website. The entry describes the game as a multiplatform, G-rated title developed by One Loop Games (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith). This will be the first Uncharted game since the release of Golden Abyss on the PlayStation Vita earlier this year.
