Game of Thrones – Delayed

 

 

The action RPG based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels has experienced its first delay, as publisher Atlus has announced a new release date of May 15th, 2012. While the upcoming RPG will include many of the locations and tertiary characters from the source material, the narrative will follow original protagonists and exist mostly separately from the events of A Song of Ice and Fire. Likenesses of the actors who recently portrayed Martin’s characters in the popular “Game of Thrones” HBO series will also be included in the game.

 

 

 

 

 

Team Fortress 2 News

 

 

The Team Fortress 2 blog over at Valve has teased “something brand new” for the free online shooter. No additional details have been dropped, but the tantalizing update suggests that anything from a new character class to the inclusion of Valve original characters like Half-Life’s Gordon Freeman could be making their debut. Team Fortress 2, long a favorite of online shooter fans, was originally released in 2007.

COD Elite DLC date for PS3 Confirmed

 

 

Even though Call of Duty Elite members have already experienced a week of Modern Warfare 3’s new DLC, PlayStation 3 gamers have been kept in eager anticipation. While PC users have no choice but to continue waiting, Activision has finally set a date for the PlayStation update on February 28th. The DLC is identical to the one that can currently be found on the Xbox 360, which features two new multiplayer maps: Piazza and Liberation.

 

 

 

 

 

Mass Effect 3 Spinoffs?

 

 

While BioWare has long announced that their upcoming Mass Effect 3 will conclude the epic space saga, executive Michael Gamble has hinted that the world of Mass Effect has a wealth of untapped potential that could possibly make its way into future game installments. In an interview with OXM, Gamble said, “Without going down any specific path, you can think of many, many different areas throughout the [intellectual property], throughout the history, where there are large wars to be won, large battles to be had, and a lot of development to be done around where these races came from, how they came about.” Mass Effect 3 hits stores for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 6th.

Alan Wake PC this month!

 

 

Alan Wake, the Stephen King and David Lynch-inspired fever dream about a down-on-his luck author in a precarious situation, is on its way to Steam for the PC. On February 16th, the title, as well as its various DLC packs, will be able to be downloaded for $29.99, with the boxed PC version soon to follow.

 

 

 

 

 

The Last of Us Update

 

 

The Last of Us, the new Naughty Dog project that was once thought to be a long way from release, has recently been announced as having a release window between late 2012 and early 2013. The Last of Us, the first non-Uncharted game that Naughty Dog has produced since 2005, is set in a post-apocalyptic United States in which two characters, Joel and Ellie, struggle to survive.

Hoodlum Havoc in March

 

 

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc HD is set for release on the Xbox Live and PSN on March 21st. No price has been mentioned for the platformer, which is coming hot on the heels of November 2011’s Rayman: Origins. This new title has been said to bring the franchise’s combat elements to the forefront, as well as including numerous unlockable mini-games to increase the title’s replay value.

 

 

 

 

 

Will Halo 4 make its debut this Month?

 

 

Pelaaja, a Finnish magazine, has an early scoop that Microsoft will be hosting a Spring Showcase on February 29th, where presumably a reveal for Halo 4 will be presented. The rumor is extremely tentative, since Microsoft has never been in the habit of hosting such showcases ahead of the industry’s annual Game Developer’s Conference, but the strong possibility still exists.
