Black Ops 2 Confirmed

 

 

The title of the new Call of Duty game has finally been confirmed as Black Ops 2 by a Target pre-order card. The game will be released, apparently, on November 13th, 2012, and will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The formal announcement for the new title will arrive on May 1st, during the NBA playoffs.

 

 

 

 

 

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Officially Canceled?

 

 

The newest iteration of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which centers around the mutations and dangerous landscape surrounding nuclear fallout center Chernobyl, has been canceled by developer GSC Game World. This comes on the heels of a story released in December 2011, which broke the news that GSC Game World was closing. The ultimate fate of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been up in the air since then, and has been further detailed by the game’s official Facebook page.

Super Mario Bros. 2 Details

 

 

Nintendo’s upcoming New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be available in both a traditional, boxed edition as well as a downloadable, eShop-based format. According to Nintendo global president Satoru Iwata, the downloadable version (which can be stored on an SD card) cannot be used on more than one 3DS. The pricing will be the same for both the physical and digital versions.

 

 

 

 

 

New Survival Horror Game coming from Shinji Mikami

 

 

Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, has a new survival horror game in development, code-named “Zwei,” according to Japanese periodical Famitsu. Said to be fully involved in Zwei’s development process, Mikami chose to return to the survival horror genre to satisfy fans’ expectations. The game, which has been in development since 2010, is about halfway through the “basic settings” setup. Mikami is still keeping details about the game close to the vest, indicating that the code-name of the title is not intended to be a clue to Zwei’s content. As for its release date, the game will not be hitting stores any time this year.

The Walking Dead Video Game

 

 

Telltale Studios’ new game based on the AMC hit series The Walking Dead is finally coming to the Xbox 360. Having already been released via digital download on the PC and PlayStation Network, The Walking Dead arrives on Xbox Live today with its first episode, “A New Day.”

 

 

 

 

 

Music App for the 360?

 

 

A new music app for the Xbox 360 is going to debut to the world at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, according to anonymous sources that tipped to The Verge. Called “Woodstock” (working title), the app can stream music content back and forth between the 360, Android, Windows 8 and iOS handhelds. The release at this time is planned to coincide with the release of Windows 8 in 2012.

Leisure Suit Larry gets Funding!

 

 

The Kickstarter campaign to remake the innuendo and nudity-heavy Leisure Suit Larry series has proved fruitful, with developers reaching their $500,000 goal with a week to spare. Any additional money that comes to the project at this point will be used to bring the game to multiple platforms, and to add an orchestral soundtrack and multiple language versions. The game is expected to be a more sophisticated version of the 1987 original, and will presumably be playable on mobile devices, Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network and Linux.

 

 

 

 

 

Perpetual Testing – May 8th

 

 

The Portal 2 Editor, previously announced by Valve for release sometime this year, is coming to Steam on May 8th. Called “Perpetual Testing,” the DLC (according to Valve) will allow Portal 2 fans to “Create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game.” The new maps can be downloaded, shared, and seamlessly integrated into the retail and download versions of Portal 2 via Steam.
